Brisbane Orchestra group Brisbane Pop Orchestra is preforming a wide range of symphony music through their orchestra performance at the Mt Mee Hall

The Brisbane City Pop Orchestra is once again on the move and promises to bring with it the grand scale harmonies that only an orchestra can provide. The 50 piece orchestra has demonstrates its gravitas to audiences throughout Queensland and on the 28th of May its presence will grace the picturesque backdrop of the Mt Mee Hall.

Meet the Band

The Brisbane City Pop Orchestras conductor Andrew Robinson, has worked all around the world with various groups from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra to the New York Ballet. His reputation proceeds him and promises to deliver a truly mesmerising performance in a local and intimate setting.

Gordon Harris is an Australian classical crossover tenor who has performed in groups such as The Ten Tenors and released the album ‘Luminoso’ in 2014. Combined with the skills of the Brisbane City Pop Orchestra he illicit emotion from audiences with a skilful symphonies that will take you away.

Beautiful music in the mountains

The groups harmonies blend in perfectly with the rolling hills and beautiful foliage that surrounds the venue. The Brisbane City Pop Orchestra performance combined with the striking scenery creates a sense of tranquillity and serenity that just isn’t possible in the big city.

The combination of big names, beautiful backdrops and an intimate performances promises to create an unforgettable musical experience.

The tour ‘A Few of Our Favourite Things’ is a collection of Brisbane orchestras group’s most beautiful music and best-loved pieces.

The evening promises audiences grand renditions of The Sound of Music, HMS Pinafore, and Lord of the Dance. The Brisbane City Pop Orchestra pays tribute to the great conductor Ron Hamner and his well-known track Pastoral (Theme from Blue Hills) and arrangements of “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Autumn Leaves” amongst other classics.

This is not a large-scale event and the intimacy of these performances mean that tickets will be limited so don’t wait until the last minute!

Tickets are a modest $30 including entry, parking, refreshments and a view of the surrounding rolling green hillsides. Doors open at 1.30 and the performances begin at 2.00pm. The afternoon promises to offer locally made light refreshments at intermission, provided by Mt Mee Hall staff who never disappoint.
