Looking for a new fitness challenge to smash in 2019? Or perhaps just hoping to watch some competition go down between locals. Either way you want it, the Moreton Bay Region has some upcoming sporting events that aren’t to be missed!

Bribie Triathlon Bribie Island Swimmers Moreton Bay Region

Bribie Tri

Test your endurance by taking part in the 2019 Bribie Island Triathlon organised by Run Inn Promotions. This 4 race triathlon series has been running for over 30 years, growing from its humble beginnings to become one of Bribie’s biggest sporting events. Suitable for kids, teams, triathlon veterans and first-timers, the Bribie Tri is set to take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March.

Redcliffe Dolphins

If you love your footy, be sure to head down to Redcliffe Dolphins to take in a home game. Next game kicking off on Saturday 30th March, tickets available at the gate. $10 Adults, $5 Aged/Disabled Pensioners and children 15-18 years, Children 14 and under FREE!

Cliff to Club Ocean Swim

The Cliff to Club Ocean Swim consists of 3 events on Saturday 6th April: 500m, 1km and 2.5km Ocean Swims. The iconic 2.5km Cliff to Club Ocean Swim course starts at Scott’s Point and heads north along the beautiful Woody Point, Margate and Suttons Beach foreshore. The 1km Ocean Swim starts in Margate and is a great option for swimmers who may be new to the sport or feel the 2.5km event may be too far. The 500m Ocean Swim is a great stepping stone for first timers or swimmers and triathletes who prefer the shorter distance.

Moreton Bay Tri

Another triathlon sporting event coming up in the Moreton Bay Region, the Moreton Bay Triathlon takes you for a swim in the protected bay, followed by a fast ride over the Ted Smout Bridge and a flat foreshore run. On Sunday 14th April, the Moreton Bay Tri welcome athletes of all ages and abilities to compete in a fun, friendly environment. From the Kool Kids 7yrs+ races, to the beginners getting a feel for a triathlon, to challenging yourself to take on the longer Olympic or Sprint distance races, there has never been a better time to tri!

North Lakes Colour Frenzy

The North Lakes 5km Colour Frenzy is hitting Lake Eden on Sunday 14th April. You can complete up to 3 laps by walking, jogging, running or dancing – it’s completely self-paced! Treat yourself at the end to a range of market stalls and food vans as a prize for finishing the race.

Weetbix Tryathlon Kids Sport Event Run Fitness Moreton Bay Region

Weet-bix Kids Tryathlon

Pine Rivers Showground will come alive with the Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon. on Sunday 19th May. TRYathletes will swim in the Olympic-sized pool (at Lawnton Aquatic Centre), whilst parents watch on from the big grandstand, before riding through the surrounding streets and running around the iconic Showground.

Moreton Bay Region’s Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run

The Moreton Bay Region’s favourite sporting event and Queensland’s most scenic and longest running Fun Run is back with a new and improved course. Offering 4 distances, from 3km to a half marathon, Redcliffe’s Jetty 2 Jetty has a race for everyone to compete in. A cash prize pool is up for grabs to be shared among the elite female and male competitors of the Half Marathon and 10km events. The top 3 male and female winners in each event will share in the prize money. Register now to run the event on Sunday 21st July.

Intrust Super Cup

Redcliffe’s refurbished Dolphin Stadium will host this year’s Intrust Super Cup grand final on Sunday 29th September 2019.

This year’s grand final will be the first premiership decider played away from Suncorp Stadium in six years; and will be the fourth time Redcliffe has hosted the big day.

Taurus 200

Featuring 10 km laps with over 20 obstacles, a mixed landscape with water, forest, bush and nature trail, participants for the 200km race have 54 hours to complete this beast of a race from Friday 4th October to Monday 7th in the Taurus 200. Participate in a team or by yourself. Not ready for the 200km challenge? Why not try out the 100km solo or 50km solo? All three distances have been sanctioned under the world championship. FISO is the official world governing body for all federations of obstacle races around the world.
