This character-filled Mount Glorious café promises rustic mountain charm with all the comforts – not to mention amazing food, coffee and views!
Elm Haus Café is a stunning timber building surrounded by trees, and located adjacent to the popular Maiala National Park.
The café (open weekends and public holidays) offers breakfast and light lunches in a warm, homely atmosphere. Choose from seating on the large verandah overlooking the rainforest garden, or on a comfortable lounge by the fire.
Keep the kids entertained in the children’s toy corner, with an assortment of board games to enjoy. The café is also wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly.
Owner Karl-Heinz Woelkerling has aimed to bring a little piece of his European homeland to the mountain, including the German Farmers Breakfast – Bauernfrühstück.
Elm Haus Café also serves traditional food such as lasagne, deep-pan pies, toasted sandwiches and delicious, locally-made cakes. Word is, they also have some amazing brownies and scones!
Located just 45 minutes west of the city, Elm Haus Café is a must-do for your next weekend day trips from Brisbane.
The townships of Mount Glorious and Mount Nebo are located in the southern section of the D’Aguilar Range.
Here, you’ll discover quaint villages, Mount Glorious cafés, unique gift shops, and some of North Brisbane’s best bushwalking trails through cool, sub-tropical rainforests.
Elm Haus Café offers the perfect pitstop, so you can refill, recharge, relax and continue exploring this scenic part of the Moreton Bay Region hinterland.

“Took the family for a morning drive the mountain. We stopped here on a whim and glad we did. Cosy cafe on the mountain, nice fireplace. They were really busy, but we still got served in a timely manner. We will be coming back soon..” – CJ Fergie, 2018 (Facebook)
“Love coming to this little cafe tucked away in beautiful Mt Glorious. This cafe has so much character inside it and lots of different things to look at while you sit and enjoy your lunch. I love taking my little boy here as it has a toy section to keep them occupied. The food and service is really good too. Highly recommend coming here for a visit.” – Jayde, 2018 (Facebook)
