When visiting the North Harbour Heritage Park, we recommend you stop in at the Compass Centre first. A small museum, the Compass Centre tells the history of the North Harbour, “Moray Fields”, site through historic photographs, sketches and display objects. These introduce visitors to some of the stories and significant developments from the past up to the present day and is a great way to immerse yourself in the history of the area.
After learning about the history of the site, you can then walk through the heritage trails and view the remaining artefacts of the residents of yesteryear such as the Old Well, and the steps of the Old Homestead.
The historical aspects of this Queensland Heritage Registered site have been combined with a vast expanse of parkland including pathways and tracks for use by residents and visitors, allowing everyone to enjoy our slice of Queensland history and the beautiful Caboolture River. The heritage remains have been carefully preserved and will continue to be maintained by North Harbour and available to view and enjoy by the general public in perpetuity.
The Compass Centre is located at North Harbour, in the riverside Heritage Park, a community attraction which cost over $3M to create, including the design and construction of the stunning Compass Centre.
Approximately 45 minutes north of Brisbane CBD, the best way to reach North Harbour is by car as public transport in the area is limited. Please be aware that the entire Heritage Park precinct is a protected area, along a gravel road. You can find more details here.
