Ocean Beach Camping Area

The largest and most popular camping area on Bribie Island, Ocean Beach Campgrounds has 63 numbered sites accessed by four-wheel drive only. Located in the Bribie Island National Park, just in from the shoreline of Woorim’s popular four-wheel drive beach, Ocean Beach Camping Area sites are just behind the dunes with clearly defined track entrances.

Camping permits are required, and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Ocean Beach Camping Area

The designated Ocean Beach Camping Area is 16km north of the four-wheel drive beach access point on North Street, Woorim. The campsite marked track ‘P’ on the below map features toilets, cold showers and water taps (not suitable for drinking). Fires are permitted in the fire rings.

Accessible by four-wheel drive only, there are no available boat launching or recovery facilities and is not suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. Tent camping beside your vehicle, walk-in camping and camper trailers are permitted.

Clearly defined track entrances are visible just behind the dunes – do not drive over the dunes. Track entrances are designated with a letter symbol while campsites are numbered. Camping is prohibited on the foredunes and beach.

Essentials to bring: water for drinking and cooking; gas stove or firewood (such as untreated mill off-cuts not bush timber); rubbish bags; insect repellent. Visitors camping away from facilities are encouraged to bring portable toilets to help reduce bush toileting.

Beach Camping Bribie Island

Ocean Beach Camping Area is within the Bribie Island National Park and therefore, rules set out by Queensland National Parks must be adhered to, including:

• Valid vehicle access permit visible within the registered vehicle.
• To protect fragile areas, camping is only permitted in designated camp sites. Camping is not permitted on the beach foredunes, northern spit or on nearby islands within the marine park.
• Please camp within the open spaces provided—do not push into vegetated areas or clear new areas for camping. Remain at least 5m away from vegetation at all times.
• Domestic animals are not permitted.

• Carry all your rubbish to dispose of appropriately outside of the National Park.

With a high demand for some camping areas, it is recommended that you book 6-weeks in advance of your intended stay. Peak periods, such as public and school holidays, it is recommended to book early to avoid disappointment. Depending on the camping area, you may be able to book from one to 12 months in advance.

CAMPERS Require:

1. A camping permit for the duration of the visit; and

2. A current vehicle access permit (which can only be used only for the dates of the camping permit).

DAY VISITORS Require

1. A current vehicle access permit.
