Things to do during your stay to Petrie

While staying at the Petrie Mill Hotel, you are conveniently located near several tourist attractions and stunning scenery, making your stay feel more like a mini holiday.

Here are our top tips for Petrie:

Old Petrie Town

Old Petrie Town features historical buildings, pottery and blacksmiths' workshops, a fire museum, steam and engine museum, quality specialty shops, handmade gifts and crafts, and a great heritage restaurant.

Pine Rivers Heritage Museum

Set in an original timber building from the 1880s, the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum holds a unique collection of colonial and convict artefacts and provides an interactive modern take on local history.

Petrie Mill Adventure Playground

If you have little ones, they are sure to love the free water park and playground at the Petrie Mill Adventure Playground.

The water park features a splash pad and water bucket, which is popular with children of all ages.

It also features two playgrounds for younger and older children, flying fox, a large cricket pitch and green space, and sheltered barbecue area.

The adventure tower echoes the main industrial structure of the Petrie paper mill, which used to occupy the site. There’s a range of climbing and exploratory challenges throughout, with climbing nets over multiple levels before reaching the top. It has been designed so adults can easily supervise their children and even have a go themselves.

Lake Samsonvale

Lake Samsonvale, also known as North Pine Dam, sits to the west of Petrie’s heart. It’s a wonderful place for easy and simple fishing with children. The lake shimmers with spangled perch, tilapia, golden and silver perch, snub-nosed garfish, Saratoga, red claw crayfish, eastern freshwater cod and Australian bass.
