Woongooroo Estate | Winery + Llama Walks Brisbane
35 Doyles Road, Mount Archer QLD, Australia
Clear your phone storage stat! You’ll want to make room for the 100's of llama selfies guaranteed to fill your camera roll. If you’re after a unique experience for your group of friends, family or social club, then this Brisbane llama walk experience is the perfect choice.
Woongooroo Estate owners Phil and Gail Close have crafted a wine tourism experience like no other.
As one of the first wineries established in the Somerset Region, Woongooroo matches its award-winning wines with local cheeses, as well as delicious delights in the onsite café.
Visitation is by appointment only, for groups of 10 or more.
For an even more unique experience, Woongooroo has partnered with Ottaba Llama Walks to offer special llama walks Brisbane offering morning and afternoon tea adventures with these magical creatures.
Affectionate and sociable, llamas have been used as pack animals in South America for centuries. There’s no better way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the estate than taking a stroll with one of Ottaba’s friendly llamas before ending the experience with a wine tasting, morning tea or cheese platter feast.
With Woongooroo wines ranging from dry whites such as Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho, semi-sweet whites and red, through dry and medium dry reds to fortified varieties, you’re sure to find something to please the palate.
At Woongooroo Estate’s café, you’ll find their famous Yowie’s Turkish Bread Pizzas – each served with a piece of Yowie’s toasted garlic slice.
Try the Yowie’s Special, with mettwurst, olives, capsicum, sundried tomato, onion and cheese on a tomato herb base, the Meat Lovers – mettwurst, ground beef and ham topped with cheese and barbecue sauce, or the Yowie’s Veggie, featuring olives, sundried tomato, capsicum and zucchini, topped with cheese.
If pizza’s not your thing, the café also serves cheese and Mediterranean platters, traditional ploughman’s lunches with cheeses, pickled onion, pickles, bread and seasonal fruit or vegetables.
Or feast on a gourmet steak sandwich, filled with juicy rib fillet, fried onions and salad arranged between fresh Turkish bread – all served with Woongooroo’s own wines available by the glass.
Morning and afternoon teas feature freshly made scones or pikelets, both served with decadent jam and cream.
The team at Woongooroo Estate loves visits from bus tours, car rally enthusiasts and clubs.
Enjoy one of two wine and cheese matching experiences at the cellar door.
Each lasts an hour, and includes expert commentary and Woongooroo wines matched with local cheeses.
The first experience includes tasting six wines matched with three common cheeses – brie/camembert, mature cheddar and vintage cheddar, all sourced from Maleny or Kenilworth, while the second pairs six wines with Stilton, manchego made from sheep’s milk and goat’s cheese.
