Up the Creek Jet Ski Tours

Once you leave the marina you’ll head up Pumicestone Passage to the entrance of Ningi Creek. Passing by Ningi Island on the left, you'll enjoy a gentle jetski ride exploring through mangroves and oyster farms, turning around at Moffatt Esplanade to return to the marina.

Mangroves in Moreton Bay Marine Park

Mangroves are an important part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park eco system (of which Pumicestone Passage and connecting waterways are a part). Mangroves are essential food sources for animals and other organisms, protect the coastline from water erosion, stabilise the seabed, provide habitat for many species and help adsorb carbon in the atmosphere!

The term "mangrove" refers not only to the species of plant, but is also used to refer to a community of plants as a whole. Worldwide there are about 65 species of mangroves belonging to 20 families. Around 35 mangrove species and three hybrids are known to occur in Queensland, of which eight species live in Moreton Bay Marine Park.

So mangroves are more than just 'muddy' patches of foreshore dotted with trees!

About Pumicestone Passage

Pumicestone Passage forms part of Moreton Bay Marine Park, home to the oldest registered fish habitat in Queensland. The 35 kilometre channel is a narrow, shallow estuary, encompassing a meandering system of waterways, islands and sand banks between South-East Queensland's mainland and Bribie Island.

Recognised as one of the most important bird and marine habitats on the Australia’s eastern coast, Pumicestone Passage is teeming with 1,500 resident shorebirds of 11 species, and nearly 20,000 migratory shorebirds of 24 species.

Get amongst nature to see the fascinating birdlife (and marine life) which inhabits this beautiful part of the world.
