What to Expect

Day 1

You will be picked up and transferred to the ferry where you will travel across beautiful Moreton Bay Marine Park to Moreton Island. During your seafaring journey keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, turtles and humpback whales (during migration season), amongst other marine life.

Upon arrival on the island you will head off for a 4WD guided eco-tour to Moreton island attractions.

You’ll travel to the remote eastern surf beach, take a forest walk to Blue Lagoon where freshwater swimming or snorkeling awaits you, followed by a picnic lunch with refreshing beverages overlooking the beach. Then you’ll travel onwards to cape Moreton Lighthouse to spot marine life from the viewing platform, followed by a stop-off at Honeymoon Bay and the Champagne Pools for a sightsee and refreshing dip, before heading back to your campgrounds.

Back at camp dinner will be prepared for your group. After dining, you can roast marshmallows and enjoy campfire stories, or stroll Ben Ewa Bay Beach (if staying at Ben Ewa Bay campgrounds), or walk around the lake (if staying at Blue Lagoon).

Camping facilities include: modern toilets & showers, set-up tents, camping mattress, sleeping bags, an eco-campfire, undercover kitchen, tables & chairs & more.

Day 2

Breakfast will be prepared for your group. After fuelling up for the day’s activities you will head to the desert for dune sand boarding fun, followed by morning tea and a visit to the Tangalooma Wrecks for a swim, snorkel or kayak. After your wet and wild activities, lunch will be served.

In the afternoon you are left to your own devices, free to relax and roam at your leisure on Tangalooma Beach. To wrap up the day you will be taken on a beach drive for a hike to Cowan Point Lookout or alternatively to the Bulwer Shipwrecks site for some beach exploration and photo opportunities.

When you arrive back at the campsite your guide will prepare dinner. Once more, you can enjoy stargazing while listening to campfire stories and roasting marshmallows, or head off for an evening stroll.

Day 3

Day 3 will see you climb up the tallest coastal sand dune on Earth – Mount Tempest, 4WD to the southern wetland eelgrass fields home to dugongs and turtles, and visit protected bird rookeries where migratory waders can be seen.
