England Creek Bush Camp | D’Aguilar National Park

hero code

England Creek Bush Camp is a picturesque spot to pitch a tent, right alongside England Creek. The campsite is a great walk-in bush camp near Brisbane, in the heart of D’Aguilar National Park in the Moreton Bay Region.

The walk to the campsite begins at the Maiala day use area, which is a beautiful place for a picnic or barbecue, and is the starting point for a few shorter walks as well. The Aquila loop, which passes the England Creek Bush Camp, is a long and sometimes difficult walk, but it boasts some spectacular views and provides plenty of opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife spotting.

The camp site at England Creek is a beautiful spot to camp if you’re looking to escape the bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of the outdoors near Brisbane. The stars are always so much brighter away from the city lights, and the trickling of England Creek will put you right to sleep.

This walk-in bush camp is a small clearing near the England Creek, that can fit up to 9 people. Like many of the walk-in bush campsites in D’Aguilar National Park, there are no facilities at the campsite, so packing the necessities is essential. Make sure you take drinking water, a tent, first-aid kit, rubbish bags, insect repellent, fuel stove, sturdy shoes, and clothes that are appropriate for the walk and the weather.

Camping is only $6.55 per person per night, or for a family permit, which includes 1 to 2 adults and up to 5 children, it is $26.20. More info about camping permits can be found here and bookings can be made through the Queensland National Parks website.

Accessing the Campsite

The Aquila loop is the track that passes through the England Creek Bush Camp site. The track is 24km return, which is quite a long walk, taking 6 to 10 hours to complete. Fitter hikers may choose to tackle the walk in a day, but many people stay overnight at the England Creek Bush Camp. Some people also choose to stop at Northbrook Mountain Bush Camp along the way.

The walk, while long and sometimes challenging, is quite rewarding. The views from sections of the track are breathtaking, and well worth the walk. At certain times of year, there is also some beautiful flora to take in. Native daisies flower along the track in spring to summer, and pink rock orchids and tongue orchids can be seen growing on rock cuttings on Joyners Ridge Road in spring.

The walk to the England Creek walk-in bush camp is fairly well signposted, however it is still necessary to take a topographic map to navigate there. A topographic map and more detailed instructions of this walk can be purchased from the Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre on Mount Nebo Road. If you’re heading into the D’Aguilar National Park from Brisbane, you’ll probably be driving past it on your way.
