Several different playgrounds to romp around

Kids of all ages will love the playground in this park and the different play areas within it. Of course, there are the usual swings and slides that all children enjoy playing on. For kids who love to climb, there is a huge climbing frame. If you have young ones with you, they will enjoy crawling through holes and spinning wheels in the toddler’s play area. For the older, more adventurous, kids there are off ground pedalers and spinners to provide a few thrills and spills.

The park is very suitable for those who like to run about. Surrounded by large grassy areas, it’s the perfect place for a game of soccer. There is also a basketball court and cricket ground, so all sports enthusiasts will love what this park has to offer.

If you’d like to make a day of your trip to the park, consider bringing along a picnic. George Willmore Park has plenty of wide grassy spaces to put down a rug and soak up the sun. There are plenty of picnic benches scattered around the area, too. If you want to cook up a meal, there are BBQs available near the park.

George Willmore Park is located about 100 metres away from the Ferny Hills public pool. Consider turning your trip to the park into a day trip. Play in the park in the morning, have a delicious picnic lunch and then visit the pool for a quick cool off in the afternoon.

Just down Ferny Way is the Ferny Hills Library. Besides housing plenty of interesting things to read, Ferny Hills Library often holds activities for kids to do. Check out their website for more information.

Getting to Ferny Hills from Brisbane

With so much variety and lots of amenities in the area, George Willmore Park is great for a relaxed day out or hosting a special occasion. To get to the park from Brisbane, simply get onto Kelvin Grove Road. Follow it onto Enoggera Road then continue down it as it becomes Samford Road. Continue for about 7 km and you will reach Ferny Way. George Willmore Park is one of the top parks near Brisbane, but there’s so much more to do nearby too!
