Between the Tides is a free community art event from a culmination of the works of various locally based Brisbane Artists. In conjunction with the resident artists at Carte Blanche, community members and groups are working together to turn the Scarborough foreshore into a vibrant sandscape installation. This North Brisbane art exhibition will encourage the use of recycled products to create innovative and emotive works from a wide range of artistic backgrounds.

Scarborough Seaside Becomes Reused

Between the Tides exhibition will be hosted on Sunday the 28th of July along the Scarborough foreshore - at the corner of Oyster Point Esplanade and Endeavour Esplanade. The display will stretch across the tidal sand bar to create a large-scale interactive installation.

The exhibition will be run across 4 hours between 11am-3pm with visitors and artists encouraged to using the time to peruse the creative ingenuity of the works littered down the beach.

Artistic Presences

Carte Blanche, an alliance of contemporary artists based in the Redcliff region, will be taking a leading role in the creation of exhibits with a focus on the effects of waste on the coastal environment; the group is creating 9 key instalments along the foreshore.

Showcase YOUR work

The real kicker of the event is in its inclusivity; the day is not limited to artistic professionals but also invites schools, community groups, artistic cohorts and individual casual artists. Groups are encouraged to come and set up their installations at 10am for the opening of the exhibit at 11am. Let the team know you’re coming by reaching out to them on their Facebook page or their email address. The day aims to create a representation of the diverse Brisbane arts scape by creating a unified canvas for the public.

The surrounding areas also offer pet-friendly beaches meaning that your hip, art-loving pooch can be brought along as well. Just make sure they don’t leave behind their own little sculptures.

Artists Gotta Eat

With the weather cooling down, enjoy a freshly made cup of coffee from the coffee vendor who will be on site to keep the artists and public caffeinated. Additionally, if you are looking to extend your time in the area and make the most of the beautiful surroundings. Just down the way in Redcliffe you can enjoy alfresco dining along the seaside and a boutique shopping experience.
