For a fascinating afternoon, join Dr Carmel Bendon at the Abbey Museum as she delves into the life of Hildegard of Bingen.
Dr Bendon is a writer, academic, and presenter of all things medieval. She has a PhD in Medieval Literature and a 1st class honours in Early English, making her the perfect expert to explore and discuss the iconic historical figure, Hildegard of Bingen.
Fans of Hildegard and even those who’ve never heard of her will be enthralled by the story of her life. Hildegard was a Benedictine abbess, described as a polymath, visionary, leader, traveller, orator, composer, theologian, natural scientist, and, most importantly, a strong and intelligent woman of her time.
Many of her writings and compositions have survived for the past 900 years, and a lot of her ideas are still relevant in the present, such as climate change concerns and environmental conservation.
This presentation is bound to be a captivating experience and will be followed by an afternoon tea.
Tickets are available via the Abbey Museum website and are a steal at $10 for a member of the Abbey Museum Friends and $15 for general guests.
