Discover and experience Asia at the annual Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year.

Celebrate the Year of the Rat on Saturday, 1st February at Caboolture Town Square.

In Chinese culture, the Rat is a symbol of intelligence, wealth and surplus. 2020 is considered a year of new beginnings and renewals. Caboolture Town Square will transform into a world of Asian delights to welcome in the Year of the Rat. This event is free to attend and brings together an afternoon and evening of amazing entertainment, celebrating Asian culture.

Traditional Music and Dance

Guests will be thrilled with the traditional Asian music and dance performances, including a Red Dragon Traditional Lion Dance, Chinese Orchestra performances, Magic show, Drumming spectacular and more.

Traditional Asian Food

Treat your taste buds to a feast of Asian flavours in an Eat Street style of food tasting. You can sample a variety of flavours or simply fill up on your favourite.


Take part in workshops and learn some of the intricacies of Asian culture.

Firecracker Display

The Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year will conclude with a brilliant pyrotechnic firecracker display.

Please note this firecracker display can be quite loud and some younger children and dogs may be frightened by the noise.

Getting There and Parking

Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year is held in Caboolture Town Square, located on King Street, Caboolture.

Caboolture is 45 minutes from Brisbane when taking the M1, though public transport options are available and within walking distance. Caboolture train line is only a 2-minute walk from Caboolture Hub.

Parking is available in the multi-storey car park off Hasking Street, Caboolture, as well as CBD parking on James Street.
