It’s been a long time coming but we have finally opened up our blog to guest posts from other bloggers, students, retirees and really just any aspiring writers keen for some online exposure!

Who can submit content to our website?

ANYONE! We accept stories from anyone of any age*. Articles just need to be well written (grammar and spell checked) and follow our writing guidelines outlined below. We love to share stories on everything from local history, cycling, art, water sports, and ‘Top 5 Cafés in Redcliffe’, to hiking adventures, road trips, foodie day trips, and ‘A Day in Dayboro’!

If your nervous about getting started (we understand you might have a great experience to share, but have never been published before) just drop us an email at desrcibing your article idea and we can give you some pointers on how best to present the article for publication!

*Please note, if under 18 years, we will require parental consent to publish, especially when it comes to use of images. We also offer Volunteer, Student Internships and Work Experience Placements for those looking for industry experience in the tourism and digital marketing industries. Just give us a call to find out more.

Writing Guidelines:

To get an idea of the type of content we are looking for and a sense of our blogging style pop over to our blog section and skim through a few (or a lot) of the blogs.

AUTHENTIC - The article submitted must be your own original work and not be published on any other website. Google doesn’t like replicated content and we listen when Google talks.

WORDS - Stories are to please be 600 words minimum, however if complimented by a video (Youtube link or original file) a minimum of 400 words is okay. Content MUST be focused on experiences etc from the Moreton Bay Region.

'NEIGHBOURS' CONTENT - The only content from outside the region which will be considered is content focused on Moreton Bay Region's direct neighbours - Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Somerset Valley and Moreton Island. Content further afield outside of the region will not be published. However, if you've some further afield content in mind you feel really would be worth publishing, please send us an email or give us a call.

Please refrain from mentioning businesses/tour operators if writing 'neighbour' content - Australia Zoo is exempt from this as they are one of our tourism partners.  feel free to include them if applicable. To get you thinking - natural attractions such as beaches, hinterland hiking hot spots, bikeways and so on, are great options for 'neighbour' content.

KEEP IN MIND - Please understand that this is to be editorial, NOT AD-vertorial. Unless the businesses referenced are profiled on our Visit Moreton Bay Region website references to specific businesses in the region must be limited. The website listed businesses/tour operators are our tourism partners and can be included in content where applicable. We love to support these local tourism operators, so write away!

IMAGERY - We require 1 landscape photograph to be at least 2200px wide for the feature image (please do not watermark the photo). In addition you can also supply:

  • Landscape photographs that are 1200 pixel wide. Please NO PORTRAIT photographs, they don’t display well on our website. Please do not watermark images, we will link to you. We don’t accept photo montages, if you have a DIY style article, just send us the images individually, we’ll do the rest!
  • Videos, or embed codes for videos you’ve uploaded to Youtube.
  • Embed codes for photographs and videos on your Instagram account (they MUST be your originals and not reposts from another user).

SOCIAL COURTESY – We ask that you like our facebook page and use our hashtag #visitmoretonbayregion on any Instagram images you wish to submit with your content (it would be lovely if you followed us too!). This makes it much easier for us to tag your accounts when the story is posted to our social media platforms. Of course we’ll follow you back!

BIO - Please also send a profile picture of yourself and a short Bio including links to your social profiles and blog/website (if applicable).

What we get and what you get:

It’s true, this is a non-paying gig, but we both benefit from your guest blogging efforts:
