Check into your stunning bungalow at the award-winning, Big4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort. Your room may not be ready yet, but there are still plenty of things to do until it’s ready. Try your hand at mini golf, jump on the jumping pillow, play arcade games, and cool off in the water park.
You’ve worked up a hunger by now and to avoid getting “hangry” it’s time to grab some lunch from the onsite restaurant. Indulge in some fish & chips by the pool, Mum and Dad won’t miss out with the fabulous swim-up bar with all their favourite cocktails.
Check into your over-water bungalow, and try your hands at stand-up paddle boarding right from the deck of your bungalow.
Just a stone’s throw from your bungalow is the national award-winning Sandstone Point Hotel. You have a huge selection of where to dine, but tonight, it’s the newly renovated Oyster Shed, right on the shores of the Pumicestone Passage and Bribie Island.
Better fuel up and here is the best place for that, Annie Lane Café! Load up on the delicious fresh made food, try the smashing pumpkins or their Shanghai Noon Asian breaky from their house specialties menu. Got a sweet tooth, this one is for you, get your lips around one of their crazy shakes. Loaded with ice-cream, chocolate bars, maybe even a doughnut or piece of cake!
Plan your day the best way by stopping in to see the friendly volunteers at the Bribie Island accredited Visitor Information Centre. They will happily help you plan your stay in Sandstone Point by sharing local secrets, maps, and brochures with you.
Next is our 4 WD beach experience with Jason from G’Day Adventures. This tour starts by driving through the short National Park beach access track at Woorim and, once reaching the beach our first stop will be Norfolk Lagoon & followed by Mermaid Lagoon. These areas provide fantastic photo ops with iconic Australian wildlife and scenery. For Mermaid Lagoon we jump back in the 4WD and head north along the pristine beach to our next destination within Bribie Island National Park.
Arriving at the WWII Bunkers (Fort Bribie) we are amazed by the history of these great forts built in the 1940’s. There is plenty of time to explore and learn the history of these structures, that are slowly descending into the ocean and may one day cease to exist.
After the WWII Fort Bribie tour we head south through the National Park with plenty of time to keep a lookout for local dolphins before returning to our starting point. Enjoy a late lunch at the Bribie Surf Club followed by a surf lesson for the kids and a few hours of R and R at Woorim beach.
Can’t get to Venice this year, Sandstone Point has your next best thing! Bribie Island Gondola departs just down the road from the Big4. The refurbished and beautifully restored Venetian style gondola has been saved from neglect and placed on the water so that you can enjoy romantic day or night cruises. Fully customisable with bubbles, seafood platters and more, it’s the perfect way to wind down after a big day.
It’s time to check out, but not time to leave! You say goodbye to your bungalow and transport into a magical butterfly kingdom and Bribie Island Butterfly House. Here you can walk into a wonderland of flying butterflies, around 700-1000 butterflies are housed in an outdoor sanctuary where they are safe to fly, feed, breed, lay their eggs, and continue their magical life cycle which you can explore up close and personal.
You’ve worked up a bit of a hunger, we hope you’re good at fishing! We are off to Goodwin Beach for a spot of swimming and fishing to try your hand at catching lunch (or dinner). In case you don’t catch anything, grab some fish and chips on your way to enjoy on the waters edge.
