Top 4 parks and playgrounds in Narangba and Burpengary

Family Fun Natural Attractions On a Budget

Posted 24 January

It can be tough work sometimes tearing the kids away from their favourite screen and getting them outside for some fresh air and exercise. One of the great things about the Moreton Bay Region is that it is absolutely bursting with natural attractions and outdoor activities that are incredible fun, and won’t break the bank. Narangba and Burpengary offer some of the most scenic parks and playgrounds that will not only keep the kids entertained, but be a nice treat for mum, dad, and the whole family. These are our top four playgrounds and parks near Brisbane in Narangba and Burpengary.

Norfolk Lakes Park – Playground in Paradise

It doesn’t matter your age at Norfolk Lakes Park – there is something for everyone to enjoy. Norfolk Lakes Park on Macdonald Drive in Narangba is set against a beautiful lake and nature walk backdrop. Younger children can enjoy the playground with slides, swings, and climbing equipment, while older kids have access to wide open spaces to throw a frizbee or kick a ball.

A gorgeous walk way weaves alongside the entire lake and actually makes up part of a 16km walk around Narangba for those enthusiastic enough. The family dog can even come for a run, but will have to stay on the leash. Feel free to spend some time on the lake in a canoe or kayak, or bring a picnic basket and make use of the free BBQ and shaded areas to spend an afternoon in paradise. Feel like a workout? A stunning outdoor exercise park is ready and waiting, and beats any session indoors.

Bellini Road Park – classic playground with a modern twist

Bellini Road Park in Burpengary is sure to keep the younger children interested with the modern take on classic playing equipment. Young adventurers will find sloped climbing walls, modern see-saws, spring swings, and engaging art games – all created to inspire and encourage development.

Parents can rest easy in this smaller gem of a park, as there is plenty of shade provided by a shade sail and pergola. There is lots of grassed area for older children although this is a treasure trove of fun for younger kids. As this is a brand new park there are currently no toilets available. Find this park situated off Bellini Road.

Creekside Corner – ‘The Spiderman Park’

Creekside Corner on Maidenhair Drive, Narangba, is the park that climbers, both young and old, have been waiting for. There is a reason locals refer to this park as ‘Spiderman Park’ – amazing climbing equipment. The blue and red rope course twists, turns, and rises over a bed of sand. Young boys and girls will actually believe they are Spiderman as they navigate this amazing course.

Families will also enjoy the long walk through nature at the back of the park, before settling into one of the three shaded seating areas and firing up the free BBQ. For fitness enthusiasts there is also plenty of exercise equipment available right near the park. Be mindful that there is no toilet available at this park and the lack of shade over the playground can make the sand quite hot in the middle of the day.

Greenway Central Park – Did someone say Flying Fox?

Greenway Central Park is named so because it is “the place where Forest Ridge’s Greenway corridors meet.” Greenway Central park is situated off Cootamundra Crescent, and families can get lost in nature with the walk way that steers behind the park to the nearby creek.

However, it is the Flying Fox that steals the show.

Bigger kids will enjoy this flying fox so much that it will be tough to drag them away. Smaller children can also have a go, but there is a separate playground especially for them if they decide the flying fox isn’t for them. The big kids also have a large fort to climb in between flying fox runs – they will think they’re one of the Knights of the Round Table in this amazing playground.

Families can stay the afternoon with plenty of shaded seating and BBQ areas for the perfect lunch or birthday party. A large green lawn and cricket pitch are also available for the family game of cricket or soccer.
