We've done all the hard work for you - we've created the ultimate weekend itinerary with the kids!
So, all that's left for you to do is pack the car (the great thing about this road-trip is there's no baggage limits so grab the beach ball and the boogie boards), and point your steering wheel towards Moreton Bay for a fun-filled bayside escape for the whole family.
DAY 1
It's time to unplug from your smartphone and plug into a fun-filled, and sun-kissed weekend (yes, even in winter) on Bribie Island. Arriving after just one hour’s drive from Brisbane CBD, Bribie Island is the only Queensland island connected to the mainland by bridge. Check into your accommodation at the award-winning Big4 Sandston Point Holiday Park.
For a memorable, fun-filled experience taking you off-road through Bribie’s National Park in a comfortable all-terrain vehicle, book one of the various 4WD tours available from G’Day Adventure Tours.
After your tour head to North Street at Woorim for lunch at one of the many cafes and dining options. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon exploring the pristine white sands and beautiful shoreline at Woorim Beach, one of the closest surf beaches to Brisbane.
Check out the 2022 Australian Hotel of the year, Sandstone Point Hotel, just a short stroll from your accommodation. Sitting comfortably on 500 metres of unobstructed water frontage is Sandstone Point Hotel, a picturesque dining, entertainment and events mecca located at Sandstone Point overlooking the pristine waters of the Pumicestone Passage & Moreton Bay.
Surrounded by nature, this iconic venue has a beautifully appointed restaurant, function facilities, a major concert area, kids' playground, and much more.
DAY 2
Head straight to Annie Lane, Bongaree where you'll find out why this award-winning boutique cafe is so popular with locals and visitors alike.
Serving up "Instagram-worthy" brunch menu options, think bright and colourful as well as delicious.
If you have a sweet tooth, then this is the place for you. With the infamous Annie's Banana Split Waffles (grilled bananas, vanilla waffle, peanut soil, vanilla ice-cream, churros, raspberry paint, caramel popcorn and chocolate fudge sauce) and Crazy Shakes (Krispy Kreme, Popcorn, Funfetti, Wonka and Crazy Unicorn inspired shakes- dont' worry, holiday calories don't count!
After a delicious breakfast, it’s time to get some adrenaline pumping. It's time to hit the water on a thrill-seeking guided jet ski tour through Bribie Island's waterways and out onto Moreton Bay.
You'll experience the natural wonders of the Pumicestone Passage, departing from Spinnaker Sound Marina and combining the thrill of Bribie Island jet ski riding while exploring marine ecosystems and encountering native birdlife.
There are three tours to choose from ranging in time from 60 to 90 minutes.
Spend your Sunday afternoon lazing about on the bay. Bribie has a number of hire options to help make the most of our time on the island.
Bribie Island Hire Hut and Tours has a variety of equipment available for hire with instructions provided, so you can explore the island itself, or get out onto Moreton Bay Marine Park. Choose your adventure with a range of items including segways, SUP boards, pedal boats, and more.
Get out and explore the incredible Moreton Bay Marine Park, with hundreds of channels, islands, and creeks to discover. You'll be right in the midst of one of Australia's most important bird and marine habitats, with dolphins, dugongs, and turtles regularly spotted. Bribie Beach Shack provides a huge range of ways to get you out and about like, fishing boats (options include boats with no boat license required!), BBQ pontoon party boats and kayaks & stand-up paddle boards (SUPs)
Have you ever had lunch in the middle of Pumicetone Passage? Well, here's your chance thanks to Bribe Island Boat Charters. You can hire an 8-seater self-drive barbecue boat, equipped with cushioned seats, BBQ, toilet, and shade canopies.
As the sun is setting on your weekend island escape to Bribie Island, take up position at Sunset Park for the perfect vista of the sun setting over the Glass House Mountains. The mountainous backdrop and stunning pink and orange hues are mirrored by the picture-perfect, sparkling blue waters of the Pumicestone Passage. Grab some fish & chips from nearby and enjoy your last few minutes of holiday.
