Aviation history comes alive at the Caboolture Warplane Museum. Situated on the Bribie-Caboolture Road, among the Caboolture Airfield hangars, the Caboolture Warplane Museum offers a truly unique collection for aviation enthusiasts and day trippers alike. It's one of the best things to do near Brisbane with kids who adore planes!
With vintage aircraft restored to flying condition, including many warbirds from WWII, the museum invites visitors to look, learn, touch and experience these magnificent flying machines.
Imagine sitting inside a UH-1 Huey Helicopter, or getting a sense of what is was like to fly the USAAF Douglas C-47A! Just touching the wing of a Wirraway VH-WWY is enough to spark anyone’s interest in the fascinating history of flight.
Aside from the operational aircraft, the museum has an excellent collection of model aircraft, war medals, engine displays, art, a Bren Gun Carrier, Australian Air Force uniforms and other objects related to Australian flight history. Museum volunteers are on hand to answer questions and advise which aircraft visitors are welcome to explore further, including the impressive Pacific Dakota.
Interested in aviation mechanics? The Museum is situated in a hangar on an airfield and prides itself on maintaining vintage aircrafts in flying condition. This means on any given day there’ll be maintenance taking place. Observe the talented mechanics and restoration experts at work keeping these symbols of our nation’s aviation history in working order.
The Caboolture Warplane flying warbirds collection consists of:
