Green Thumb Farm is a not-for-profit permaculture inspired farm in Samford Valley dedicated to teaching sustainable gardening practices and fostering connections through their community garden.
Their values of “grow, learn, share” encapsulates the essence of their mission, emphasising the importance of cultivating knowledge and nurturing connections with both the land and fellow community members.
Located in the Samford Garden Precinct, just 35 minutes from Brisbane CBD and neighbouring The Mini Farm Project, Green Thumb Farm offers a range of activities and programs aimed at engaging with nature and learning.
From hands-on workshops to specialised programs catering to home schooling lessons, NDIS and kids’ clubs, there’s something for everyone to participate in.
These activities and events are managed by a dedicated team under the direction of Green Thumb Farm Association Inc., a not-for-profit association.
The community garden is a collaborative effort, made possible by the support of dedicated local partners and funds raised through the Samford Edible Garden Trail and a grant from the City of Moreton Bay and Community Bank Samford.
Looking ahead, Green Thumb Farm has plans for expansion, envisioning the launch of mini pop-up nurseries selling seasonal produce sourced directly from the farm's gardens.
Additionally, there are plans to open a café and education space, further enriching the farm's offerings and strengthening its role as a focal point for community engagement.
The farm welcomes people of all ages and abilities, fostering an inclusive environment for learning and community engagement, particularly through their workshops and programs for home schoolers, NDIS participances and veterans.
