Step into a world dedicated to our feathered friends at the Queensland Poultry and Bird Museum, believed to be the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Located with the Caboolture Historical Village, the four-roomed museum offers a unique glimpse into the history and significance of poultry and birds in Queensland and pays tribute to the role poultry birds played in Queensland from the late 1800s until today.

Run by the Feather Clubs Association of Queensland, the museum officially opened in 2003 and is home to a number of historic displays.

Highlights of Queensland Poultry and Bird Museum

  • Informative dioramas depicting the arrival of the First Fleet, poultry shows, the role of zoos in bird preservation, and the intriguing history of pigeons in warfare
  • A framed article about he very first poultry show held in Australia in 1854, a testament to the long history of poultry keeping in the country
  • A special memorial dedicated to pigeons and their handlers who served in the world wars, the only one of its kind in Australia
