Established in 1976, North Pine Country Park Potters Inc is a 'Not for Profit' organization born out of the passion of local artisans for the art of pottery. Initially founded by a small group of dedicated artists with a penchant for handcrafted pottery, particularly the wood firing process, the organization has since evolved into a vibrant community of over 70 members. From its humble beginnings holding classes at Readymix property in Todds Road Lawnton, the organization has found its home in the picturesque grounds of Old Petrie Town.
The journey of North Pine Country Park Potters Inc is a testament to resilience and passion. Initially, classes were held at Readymix property until the site's development prompted a relocation. Generously, Bob and Jack Hyde offered their Cow Bails on Dayboro Road, where workshops flourished under the shade of an old fig tree. As the club expanded, The Pottery Barn was constructed, providing a larger space for creativity to thrive. Today, the organization boasts a diverse array of beautifully crafted ceramics, each piece telling a unique story of Australian clay fired through various techniques.
