Dohles Rocks | Griffin

The quiet riverbank area of Dohles Rocks in Griffin is an important habitat for shorebirds and a relaxing place for locals of Moreton Bay Region’s nearby built-up areas to escape and kick-back.

Dohles Rocks Road runs along the riverside. It is a quiet residential strip lined by modern and older-style homes set-back across the street from the water.

You will find plenty of curb-side parking (as well as trailer parking bays) to leave your vehicle while you stretch your legs, go fishing, or enjoy a family picnic, or BBQ overlooking the river. Though the area isn’t suited to big get-togethers, it is a perfect spot to get lost in a good novel, enjoy an afternoon play with the little ones, or launch into North Pine River.

Unless you’re planning to keep your visit brief, it is advised you bring a hat and sunscreen as the few trees along the foreshore do not offer adequate shade for extended stays. If you’re visiting during mozzie season be sure to bring mosquito repellent as well.

    • Plenty of car parking
    • A boat ramp with trailer parking spaces
    • Picnic tables and benches
    • A small, unfenced kids playground, picnic table and waste bin located opposite house #1054, with public BBQs and waste & recycling bins nearby (before Dohles Rocks Rd becomes Korman Rd)
    • Bins and a wheelchair friendly public toilet block is located at the boat ramp along the foreshore
    • A public phone box located at #1020 with another public bin found nearby

Keen to Fish in the Pine River

Looking for Moreton Bay boat ramp locations and information to launch into the North Pine River? We’ve got you covered!

You can launch your boat from the Dohles Rocks Road boat ramp, a long concrete ramp with room for up to 2 trailers at a time. It protrudes out into the river from the bank close to house number #1002.

Alternatively, you can launch from the Deep Water Bend Reserve boat ramp (part of Tinchi Tamba Wetlands Reserve), accessible from Wyampa Rd, Bald Hills.

Don’t skip the Osprey House Environmental Centre along the way. It’s a great place for bird watching, picnics and BBQs, and a stroll over the mangrove riverbank along the boardwalk.

How to Get To Dohles Rocks

Located on the north bank of the North Pine River, you can turn onto Dohles Rocks Road from Anzac Avenue, or by taking the Murrumba Downs exit off the Gympie Arterial Rd/Bruce Highway (if you’re coming from the south).

For playing, eating and fishing, put Dohles Rocks on your activity list this weekend. Share your adventure #visitmoretonbayregion
