The quiet riverbank area of Dohles Rocks in Griffin is an important habitat for shorebirds and a relaxing place for locals of Moreton Bay Region’s nearby built-up areas to escape and kick-back.
Dohles Rocks Road runs along the riverside. It is a quiet residential strip lined by modern and older-style homes set-back across the street from the water.
You will find plenty of curb-side parking (as well as trailer parking bays) to leave your vehicle while you stretch your legs, go fishing, or enjoy a family picnic, or BBQ overlooking the river. Though the area isn’t suited to big get-togethers, it is a perfect spot to get lost in a good novel, enjoy an afternoon play with the little ones, or launch into North Pine River.
Unless you’re planning to keep your visit brief, it is advised you bring a hat and sunscreen as the few trees along the foreshore do not offer adequate shade for extended stays. If you’re visiting during mozzie season be sure to bring mosquito repellent as well.
