Brisbane Parents! Looking for something to do today with the kids? There are tons of things to do near Brisbane with kids – here’s our guide to giving your Brisbane kids the BEST DAY EVER – and they’re all so close to home!
First, head to Albany Creek Skateway for a fun morning with kids of all ages. Sessions start from 9.30 on weekdays and 10am weekends. Entry is around $12 + skate hire.
Next pop down to the Albany Creek Tavern for lunch – enjoy a steak while the kids have a kid's meal and play in the playground.
Then head to Albany Creek Leisure Centre to ride the waterslide, swim the whirlpool or splash in the toddler play section. Even in winter enjoy a swim as the pools are nice and heated.
Kids will love Greenway Central Park in Narangba – a gigantic play paradise in the Stone Ridge Community off O’Mara Road in Narangba.
Pick up a pizza for lunch at Narangba’s famous Narangba Village Pizza, 36 Main Street in Narangba.
As the day heats up, hit the Caboolture Aquatic Centre for a very affordable play and paddle at 1 Aquatic Centre Drive, Burpengary.
Start your morning with a big adventure! Head down Old Gympie Road to Leis Park. Here you’ll find a cool play area, places to catch little fish and, at the fork in the North Pine River, a calm place for kids to go river swimming. Bring some footwear as it’s a rocky crossing but a favourite of locals who love to get out among nature!
Head to Norths Leagues Club to grab a light lunch in air-conditioned comfort. They have a wonderful selection of kids friendly food items... don't forget your ice-cream!
Finally, pop out to the Pine Rivers Museum situated in Old Petrie Town. Not only is entry free, but they have a fantastic Kids program called G.A.M.E which includes a calendar of art and history events kids can enjoy.
Head to Bunyaville Forest Reserve and take a hike – be on the lookout for koalas, echidnas, wallabies, lizards and other native friends. Pop into the Education Centre before you go to get tips on spotting animals on the reserve!
Next, stop for some lunch at the awesome Eatons Hill Hotel, complete with playground and real, working merry-go-round.
Finally, head to the Tramway Museum in Ferny Grove for a tram ride through Brisbane’s history. This is a great day out for kids who love trains!
Head back to Murrumba Downs, grab some lunch, and some duck food from the pet store. Head over to Black Duck Reserve for a picnic lunch and some bird spotting.
