After the first hotel to operate in Samford was destroyed by fire, the new Samford Hotel (also known at the time as Railway Hotel and O’Hara’s Hotel) was rebuilt in 1915. With the coming of the railway
to Samford in 1918, the town saw unprecedented progress with numerous businesses established along Main Street. In that same year, James O’Hara moved the hotel, in three sections, to its present site.
As development on the hotel and the town continued over the years, the Hotel became known as the Golden Valley, until in 2003, it was again changed to Samford Valley Hotel.
The facade of the Hotel has altered considerably over the years. In 2003 a major renovation was carried out on the hotel to include the magnificent Village Garden Bar & Grill. In 2014 another upgrade saw a brand new gaming room, a revamped public bar/sports bar and the widely popular HOPs Craft Beer and Wine Bar.
From very humble beginnings, the Samford Art and Craft Association has proven to be an enduring social and cultural centre for local artisans - a true resource for the Samford Valley and its surrounds - as well as providing valuable community service.
Whether travelling for business or pleasure, Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge set amidst natural surrounds is your ideal north Brisbane accommodation retreat from the city, just 40 minutes north of Brisbane CBD.
