Youngs Crossing Park is situated off Youngs Crossing Road on a grassy bank of the North Pine River. Inland from the river mouth, the area at Youngs Crossing Park is mostly fresh water and is a popular fishing and kayaking destination in the Moreton Bay Region. From Youngs Crossing Park, you have the opportunity to get out and explore more of the region via the walkway that leads to Wyllie Park, near Petrie Train Station. Once you reach there, you may even decide to continue along the Petrie to Kippa-Ring Shared Pathway that leads from Petrie Station out to Kippa-Ring Train Station. With almost 40 connections from the pathway, you have the option to veer off-track to other destinations.
Stretching approximately 54 kilometres from Mount Mee Forest in D’Aguilar National Park to the Moreton Bay, the North Pine River has many parks and reserves based along its stream. Winding its way through the greater part of the Moreton Bay Region, the North Pine River is dammed to form the North Pine Dam (Lake Samsonvale) then continues to join the South Pine River and flows out into Bramble Bay.
The North Pine Country Park on Youngs Crossing Road is home to the Pine Rivers Riding for the Disabled as well as the Pine Rivers Pony Club. Based at the rear of Old Petrie Town, the park boasts a large grass field that is often used as a sporting ground.
